2 Dental Rinses To Help Soothe Your Teeth After A Debridement Procedure

The buildup of plaque and bacteria around your teeth and gum line can lead to dental diseases like gingivitis and periodontal. In order to prevent this, your dentist may suggest a debridement procedure. A debridement procedure involves using an ultrasonic device or saline solution to remove any plaque buildup. Both methods are effective at reaching hard to access areas and removing any bacteria and plaque. Since a debridement is considered to be a deep cleaning procedure, the procedure is more aggressive than a typical teeth cleaning. As a result, this process can leave your teeth and gums feeling sore. Luckily, there are a few dental rinses that you can use to soothe any pain that you may be experiencing after a debridement.

Chamomile and Lemon Rinse

If you were dealing with inflamed gums prior to the debridement procedure, then the process will aggravate your gums even more. As a result, you need a natural relaxant like chamomile in order to offer your gums and teeth a bit of relief. Chamomile is frequently used to calm the body. The herb contains anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that make it ideal for treating sickness and bacterial infections. A homemade chamomile rinse can be created by placing fresh chamomile in a small cup and pouring hot water over the herbs until the cup is filled. Allow the herbs to sit in the water for a few minutes before removing it. Add lemon to the rinse for freshness and use the rinse to soothe your aching gums and teeth.

Lavender and Aloe Vera Rinse

Lavender is another natural relaxant. The herb is included in salves, ointments, and lotions in order to treat muscle pain and calm inflammation. Aloe vera is another natural ingredient that is used to treat pain. It is often included in topical creams and oils for muscle pain. The healing properties in lavender and aloe vera can be used to create a dental rinse to soothe your mouth after debridement. Start by adding fresh lavender to a cup of hot water. While the lavender sits, remove the gel from a fresh aloe vera plant and place the gel in a blender. Strain the lavender from the mixture and pour the water into the blender that contains the aloe vera gel. Blend until the mixture is smooth. Use the rinse to treat your sore teeth and gums following each meal. You will begin to notice a reduction in pain after a few uses.

FAQs About Pregnancy and Dental Health

During pregnancy, expectant mothers have to deal with a host of changes to their bodies. I was surprised to learn that part of those changes is to your dental health. I was not aware that hormonal changes could mean an increased risk of gum infection and other dental problems. Luckily for me, my dentist was prepared to handle any problems that I experienced during my pregnancy. I created this blog to help other expectant mothers understand the changes that their dental health could experience throughout their pregnancies and the possible ramifications those changes could have on their pregnancies and the health of their unborn children.
